Dental Implants in King of Prussia, Philadelphia

Explore dental implants for missing teeth with Dr. David Azizyan at All On Smiles in King of Prussia. Understand whether implant-supported replacement fits your health, your smile and the care you need.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a device placed surgically in the jaw to support a replacement tooth or teeth. The implant provides support below the visible restoration; a crown, bridge or other replacement forms the part you see.

Implant treatment therefore involves more than choosing a replacement tooth. Your plan needs to explain the supporting implant, the restoration and any additional care required.

Who may be a candidate for implants?

Assessment considers the jawbone, gums, oral health, medical history and factors that affect healing. Some people need preparatory treatment; others may be better suited to a different replacement approach.

Surgery carries risks, including infection, nerve or tissue injury and failure of the implant to integrate. Discuss benefits, alternatives and your individual risks before deciding. Read the FDA’s patient guide to dental implants.

Preparing for dental implants.

The foundation matters as much as the replacement tooth. If a tooth needs to be removed or bone support is limited, your plan may include preparatory care. Discuss why it is recommended, the healing involved and the estimate before deciding.

Bone grafting

A bone graft uses bone or a substitute material to build up an area that lacks sufficient bone for an implant. The material, healing period and timing of implant placement depend on the site and your health. Ask which stages can be combined and which need time to heal.

How bone grafting supports implant planning

Sinus lifts

At the back of the upper jaw, the sinus may leave too little bone height for an implant. A sinus lift raises the sinus floor and adds graft material to help develop bone for implant placement. It is considered only when the assessment shows it is needed.

The stages of implant treatment

The sequence and time needed vary. Clarify who provides each stage and what happens between appointments.

Assessment and planning

Review the site, dental records, proposed replacement and any care needed before placement.

Placement and healing

Implant placement is followed by healing and monitoring. Bone integration and temporary arrangements depend on the individual plan.

Restoration and maintenance

The replacement tooth or teeth are fitted as planned, with attention to the bite, cleaning and ongoing review.

Dental implants or a bridge?

A tooth-supported bridge may provide another way to replace a missing tooth. Compare its effect on adjacent teeth with the surgical and healing stages involved in implant care.

When multiple areas need attention, full-mouth rehabilitation can help coordinate the decisions. Request an implant consultation to discuss the options for your situation.

What is included in an implant estimate?

The implant, connecting components and final restoration are different parts of treatment. Imaging, extraction, preparatory procedures or temporary teeth may also affect the total.

Ask for the stages and inclusions to be itemized. Review insurance information and payment questions alongside the clinical plan rather than assuming one advertised fee covers every case.

Cutting edge dentistry at a fraction of what I would have paid at a local office in Lancaster PA. Dr. David is the kindest dentist I've ever had. He and his staff are worth the hour drive.

I was referred here, what great care I got. The staff is amazing and the equipment is cutting edge. I'm almost done with my alignment, and while I hope I don't have to go back, I would in a heart beat!

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to help you prepare for your consultation.

Is an implant the same as a crown?

No. The implant supports the replacement from within the jaw. A crown is the visible restoration that may be attached to an implant or placed over a natural tooth.

Can everyone have dental implants?

No. Suitability depends on oral and general health, bone and tissue conditions, and factors that affect healing. An assessment is needed before a recommendation.

How long does implant treatment take?

Planning, any preparatory care, placement, healing and restoration all affect timing. Some cases require several months; your clinician should explain the stages for your plan.

Are implants permanent?

Implants are intended as long-term replacements, but success and lifespan vary. Implants or restorations can develop complications and need maintenance, repair or replacement.

Can a bridge be an alternative?

Yes, a tooth-supported bridge may be an alternative in some situations. Compare support, neighboring teeth, treatment stages and daily care with your dentist.

Is sedation available for my treatment?

IV and general sedation are available through an anesthesia group on scheduled days once or twice a week. Nitrous oxide is also available. Your dentist and anesthesia team will review your needs, suitability, preparation, and scheduling.
